RUSSIAN BANKING SYSTEM: CURENT ASPECTS OF AREARS PROBLEM

Author

Yershov M.V., Sc.D. (Economics), Chief director on financial research at the Institute of Power Engineering and Finance (project manager); Tatuzov V.Yu., Sorbonne PhD, senior analyst with the Department of financial analysis of same Institute; Lupandina O.A, junior analyst of the same department.

Abstract

The article shows that the lower quality of loan portfolio, particularly at big retail banks, can contribute to deterioration of banking system position in terms of liquidity as well as to aggravation of a number of other problems (lower profitability and capitalization of banking sector, of its investment potential, etc.). Given a negative course of events, deteriorating performance of retail banks can create risks for Russia’s banking system as a whole thereby actualizing a closer regulator’s attention to this problem.

CALENDAR UNSEEN... (CONCERNING LATEST MANIFESTATIONS OF «PATRIOTIC CRITICISM» OF CLASSICAL MARXISM)

Author

Lyubinin A.B., Sc.D. (Economics), Professor.

Abstract

Based on a detailed review of several publications by professors S. G. Kara-Murza and V.Yu.Kasatonov, the author argues that the currently popular, in the patriotic community, attitude towards classical Marxism theory as a priori targeted against Russia is scientifically invalid (and testifies in particular of that its subjects really lack fundamental professional social science background) hence can hardly contribute to a sound criticism of both radical liberalism and, ultimately, real resurgence of this country.

CONCERNING EVALUATION OF SCIENTIFIC MERIT OF RUSSIAN ECONOMIC JOURNALS: COUNTERPRODUCTIVITY OF PRIORITY OF BIBLIOMETRIC AND «QUANTIFIED» FOREIGN INDICATORS

Author

Gumerov R.R., PhD (Economics), assistant professor, head, sector of Institute of Macroeconomic Studies.

Abstract

The author carries on criticism, started in A.N.Shvetsov article «Russian Academy of Sciences — yet another object of destructive reforms» published in Rossiisky Ekonomichesky Zhurnal No. 4 for 2013, of the discourse relative to evaluation of scientific merit of publications in national economic journals (respectively of the editions as such) on the basis of primarily bibliometric ratings, indices and other quantitative formal methods primarily of foreign (American) origin. Critically reviewing A. A. Muraviov presentation «Concerning classification of Russian journals on economics and related disciplines» (whose cut version is reproduced as an article «On scientific merit of Russian journals on economics and related disciplines» in Voprosy Ekonomiki journal No. 4 for 2013) the author argues the principle of priority of informal qualitative criteria and secondary nature of quantitative indicators in various classifications of economic publications and the relevant journals.
